Aedan Duckworth explains what his job as an actor for Hollyoaks involves.
Aedan: Hi, my name's Aidan Duckworth and I'm an actor.
I'm gonna start from the beginning. I'm only 17, so I started in primary school. I've always been very loud, very excitable, so drama was something I went for - also sports and, surprisingly, maths. But one thing I've noticed that really helps me out as an actor is English, and I don't know if you realise that or not.
I wasn't so keen on English. I always found it difficult - you’re always writing, my hand aching. But I tell you what, the amount of English I've had to use looking at scripts, words I didn't have a clue what they mean - little things - they just help you out massively when you're acting.
As soon as I got this Hollyoaks job, it's been tough graft: getting up at half five every day, getting to Liverpool for half seven, and getting home at 8:30. Yeah, it's a long day, but you're laughing every minute and it's just awesome.
What skills do I need?
As well as enthusiasm, confidence and acting ability, you will also need:
- English language and literature skills to help you to read and interpret scripts
- stamina and flexibility
- resilience and a positive outlook.

- Actor typical working hours: 37 to 47 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
What qualifications do you need to be an actor?
