The Regenerators Hall of Fame Privacy Notice

What is a privacy notice?

A Privacy Notice tells you what personal data the BBC collects about you, how we use it and what you can do about it. Personal data means any information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, address or picture. This privacy notice is designed to be read by children and young people; you might want to read it with your parents or guardians.

Why are we doing this and how can you participate?

If you do a lot to care for the planet you can become a Regenerators climate champion! You can enter the Regenerators Hall of Fame if you 5-16 years old and you have helped others to reduce waste; helped to make changes within your school, family or local community; or worked with other young people to look after nature in your local area.

There are six (6) Regenerator Hall of Fame categories available, three (3) for groups and three (3) for individuals.

The group awards:

  • Primary School Award.
  • Secondary School Award; and
  • Community Group Award.

The Awards for individuals are split by age categories:

  • 5–9-year olds.
  • 10-13 year olds; and
  • 14-16 year olds.

There are a couple of ways to enter:

  • A parent/guardian can nominate you.
  • A teacher, or someone at your community group can nominate you or your group, so long as they have your parental/guardian permission; and
  • You can nominate yourself or a group you’re in, but your parent/guardian will need to submit the nomination on your behalf.

If you’re nominating other people they should always know that you’re doing this first.

The BBC will collect your personal data through its website. The adult nominating you or your class or group will let us know their reasons for the nomination in 250 words. They can also send us other information (up to two documents) to support what you’ve done.

If you’re lucky enough to be chosen, the BBC will make a short film about you or your group, that explains how you are helping the environment. We will show this on our website to inspire other young people. This video may also be shown on BBC programming and on our social media accounts.

Even if you’re not chosen for one of the Awards, you still might feature on the BBC’s Bitesize website if we think your work is worthy of a special mention and commendation.

Why do we collect and use your personal data?

We will only collect your personal data when we need it to help us do our job or to follow the law. We will use it to:
