| | In January 2004, 12lb Actor's Susie Riddell (producer/ actor) and Paul Magson (writer) celebrated the first birthday of their Birmingham-based theatre company by announcing the imminent arrival of their second play. The acting is first class and the writing accomplished. | Culture Wars (about Dog Sh**?) |
Following the critically acclaimed Whatever Happened to White Dog Sh**? comes Paul Magson's new play, Smuggling Peanuts.
With more front than Blackpool, Smuggling Peanuts is a feisty and fun-filled frolic into fate, fidelity and friendship. Our heroines, sexy singletons Poppy and Penny, who are not on the rebound, over-indulge on the excesses of the twentysomething female in the decade aptly named 'the noughties'.
Paul once again buddies-up as co-director with Jon Morris of Schism Theatre who is also the new mac Youth Theatre Director. The effervescent Susie produces and also plays Poppy. New members
12lb Actor's previous success has attracted the exciting and vibrant talent of new 12lb-ers, Ruth Harrell, Jo Tucker and Ruth Butler. Ruth H partners Susie on-stage as the luck-lacking Penny, and Jo and Ruth B unite with the backstage creative team.
With friends and associates, Mandy and Claire at The Ivy Bush, 12lb Actor recently held a fundraising School Disco. Scuffed knees, short skirts and snogging-behind-the-bikesheds aplenty, a packed house partied away to karaoke, quizzes, confessions and Mistress Mandy's Caning Corner.

Smuggling Peanuts premieres in June at the Hexagon, mac and The Ivy Bush before transferring to the Festival Fringe to thrust the bra into the Edinbra Festival!
After the exhausting schedule of Dog Sh**? last year, when the play was presented at six venues across Birmingham and Edinburgh, we said we'd have to be nuts to do it all again. Well, we are nuts - we're Smuggling Peanuts!
