Plus: listen again to This Love Afair playing live. Help playing audio/video ![]() Lee Weston - singer/guitar "We used to be called Brite Lites. A band (with the same name) won the Road to V competition this time last year and they went on to get a deal. That prompted us to change our name so we put it open to the listeners of BBC WM Introducing. Someone suggested This Love Affair and we liked it. It stuck. "We've been together for about three years now. Me and Andy (bassist) were in a band and the two Tovey brothers were in another and we all got friendly. Both bands broke up so we thought it would be a good marriage to get together. "Our first ever gig was somewhere in Leamington Spa. I forget the name of the venue. We were finding our direction back then. I think we wanted to be an alternative country band and ended up as a rock band, as you do. ![]() Daniel Tovey - guitar/backing vocals "We've got a lot of collective influences. We like bands like U2, Radiohead, the stuff of Ryan Adams. We like to write quite epic songs, what's going on in the current climate. We write together, it's a collaboration. We rehearse three of four nights a week so it's a lot of hard graft. "We've had some really good shows over the last 12 months. We've played with some really good bands and been getting out of town too. We've had a lot of shows in London and some up north in Liverpool. London was really good. We were a little apprehensive at first but people were really open to us and now we have fans from there who follow us everywhere. ![]() Andrew La Touch - bass "We actually played our first festival a few weeks back - The Scarborough Beach Festival. It's literally an open air festival on a beach. We were really lucky that the weather held out but just as we were finishing our set the tide came right into the stage. It was touch and go whether the front row of fans would drown. It well though. We really enjoyed it. "You can download our tracks from the website but to be honest the easiest way to get hold of our songs is to come to our gigs as we give CDs away. It's something that we've always done. We're grateful that people come to see our band so it's a little reward. "The future? It's just to get as good as we possibly can get. We love what we do and that's the bottom line. I think the festival scene is something we're looking towards in 2009 and playing abroad too. We'd love to tour New York. But ultimately as long as people are coming to our shows and watching us play we're happy." ![]() Jayme Tovey - drummer/vocals Click the link at the top of this page to listen again to This Love Affair playing live on BBC WM Introducing. This Love Affair are:
