Maneek's Diary

Check out what I've been getting up to so far as the Birmingham Blast Reporter for 2007.

DIARY ENTRY TWO

Well it’s been a while since I updated my diary, so I thought I better get it done now.

I've just about completed the CDP course which I told you all about it my last entry and all I have to do now is a four week placement somewhere to teach for an hour. I have no idea where or when I'm doing it but I'm petrified!

I've done a few stories now and still got a few that I will be working on, so watch this space!

Mask

I went to meet the mask man

Last week I went to interview Michael Chase, the director of the forthcoming International Mask Festival.

Everything was going well; I got a great interview, a tour of the Glasshouse and some snazzy shots of him and his masks. Then came the panic… I got home only to find the Dictaphone hadn't recorded any of the interview!

Luckily I have a decent memory so I managed to write down everything I remember him saying.

The end is nigh

I can't believe I've only got two weeks left being a Blast reporter. These past six weeks have gone extremely fast.

I will miss this place and my team. My mentor Brett is a very funny, UFO and aliens obsessed chap from the wonderful town of Stourbridge (cough cough).

Maneek

Me looking dazed.

Faye is terrified of masks, so my gallery for the mask festival didn’t go down to well. She also likes to eat cereal all the way from America (some people are just fussy eaters ay).

Ciaran is a perfectionist and likes to confuse me. He also cycles to work all the way from Wolves, just mad! Mike is well random but hilarious and then there's Jill who is the only sane one out of them all!

I better go and do some work now. Cyaaaaaaaaaa!

DIARY ENTRY ONE

Hey everyone! It's now my second week as the BBC Birmingham Blast Arts Reporter (wow that's a mouthful). I haven't yet got any stories up, but don't panic becuase I'm working on four at the moment.

My first day here I got to meet the whole team and let me tell you, they are a lovely bunch. I also got bundled with hours worth of health and safety modules to complete. Boy! They took up the whole day, but if any of you other Blast reporters haven't done them yet then you're in for a treat... muhahahahaha!!!

Windswept

On my second day I completed my first piece which was the profile about me. It was a bit random walking around and then suddenly doing the splits. I got a few confused looks but it was a laugh and I'm hoping that before I leave I can get the others to try doing the splits... I'll just keep bugging them!

What next?

I'm now ready to start work on my first few features for you all to read so I hope you enjoy when they are done. If the weather remains perky I might get to out taking some snaps for the Birmingham summer gallery of areas in Brum and all you out there. So look out for me because I could jump out at any time and take a quick shot!

Busy, busy, busy.

I'm going to be pretty busy myself over the next few weeks. Firstly, dance rehearsals going on for Birmingham Arts Festival which is coming up mid September and I will be performing in. We have completed one piece and have three more to go. In the piece that's just been completed I will be representing either Marilyn Monroe or Monica Lewinsky, how exciting to play a minx!

I've also got the CDP course to do over the next two weeks. That stands for Community Dance Practitioners award incase you're all wondering what I'm on about. I will be writing a feature on my progress during the course and you will all get to see how I am getting on.

Anyhoo... I shall love you and leave you, until next time. Chow!
