WM Action DeskThe Action Desk is run by a dedicated team of volunteers who answer queries from BBC WM listeners, produce information packs and do a host of other things. Find out more, including how to get in touch with the Action Desk. At the Action Desk we bring charities and organisations together with the local community. This is done through local radio by broadcasting volunteering and learning opportunities. Our projects involve a wide range of subjects; from helping with the makeover of a mentoring room at a local school, to recruiting volunteers to record the first signs of spring. ![]() Maggie Smith, Action desk producer Dedicated teamWe’ve got a great team of dedicated volunteers from all age groups, led by Action Desk Producer Maggie Smith. Lifelong LearningEncouraging lifelong learning is an important part of what the Action Desk does. The message is that it’s never too late to learn and we are always promoting opportunities for you to learn more about your hobbies and interests, gain qualifications or just get out and meet new people and do something interesting with your time. VolunteeringVolunteering is also key to what we do at the Action Desk. There are a hundreds of charities and organisation in the West Midlands that could use your time and experience. Here to helpAlready this year we’ve answered more than 3,000 phones calls and sent out hundreds of packs with information ranging from how to trace your family tree to building your own nest box, to how to get involved with reading for blind! We’ve also helped more than fifteen organisations to recruit volunteers to date!
