Find out what lead Dan to become a sports reporter and how you can get in touch with him. Dan joined BBC WM in September 1999 after starting his broadcasting career with his local station, BBC Hereford and Worcester. After leaving school, Dan went to University to train as a Primary School teacher before realising his handwriting and patience weren't up to it and changed direction. Dan has been a freelancer for most of his time with the BBC and has worked for a number of local radio stations, as well as BBC Five Live. He also keeps his hand in with education by lecturing in media studies at South Birmingham College. When he's not reading sport bulletins or interviewing managers and players, Dan stands in for Daz Hale, presenting BBC WM's Sportsnight programme and he enjoys making features and documentaries. Dan's favourite sport is cricket which he plays to league level with his local club in Worcester and keeps an eye on the fortunes of Worcestershire, Warwickshire (now his adopted second team) and has developed a taste for travelling to follow England after seeing them play in the West Indies in 2004. He also has a keen interest in football, golf and boxing and has covered Play-Off Finals, The Ryder Cup and a World title eliminator fight in his time at WM.
