Birmingham Carnival brings communities together, in a day long festival of dance, music and food, with a taste of the Caribbean.

The highlight of the day is a mardi-gras style procession of dancers in fabulous costumes.

The vibrant procession led by the new Carnival Queen will start at 12.30pm from Oxhill Road, Handsworth and make its way through Perry Barr to Perry Park.

Hundreds of spectators will line the procession route to watch people dancing in the streets wearing fabulous costumes.

Each dance troop wear different themes made from sequins, feathers and beads, dancing alongside floats of groups playing steel pans.

For health and safety reasons, during the procession rolling road closures will need to be in place and vehicular access to and from frontages along the route will be restricted as the procession passes by.

Party in the park

The carnival fun in Perry Park starts at 3.30 and finishes around 9pm. Visitors can expect a vibrant mix of entertainment, together with stalls selling Caribbean food, and craft items.
