No doubt the hst is the best traction i ever drove in my 5o years career. To drive one over the Forth rail bridge at sunrise on a summers morning is an experience i will always treasure.

There is no train that captured the public's imagaination in the way that the IC125 did. It's streamlined shape echoed back to the days of the Mallard and Sir Nigel Gresley and yet the futuristic, spacious air conditioned carriages and smooth ride gave us a glimpse into a railway travelling utopia where fast, frequent and efficient services would be a thing that we could take for granted. Unfortunately, this dream was, like so many others, crushed under the jackboot of rampant Thatcherism, the railways were de-regulated and eventually privatised and we are left with the God Forsaken mess that we have now. No more innovation, no more national pride.

I'm 22 and have always loved these trains there remarkable

i first went to london on an hst meny years ago you felt you had arived when traveling on one of these trains they were so comfortable to ride on you did not want to get off when you had reached your destination and the big picture windows were a pleasure to look out of as the country wized by. happy traveling on the hst 125

trains are brilliant, they talk about overcrowding but we have nearly every train avalible out there. there are trains younger than the HST that don't work as well as them.

I remember the HSTs when they started running between Aberdeen Edinburgh Waverley to London Kings Cross, then later when they started services from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street Stirling Perth then finally to Inverness.Ialso have many happy memories of travelling on the HSTs.

I love these trains, the nose shape, the thrashing engines, everything. I was gutted when Voyagers replaced them on the cross country line. I'm gutted again now the mtu engine is being fitted in them. The First Great Western 'barbie' livery is my favourite.

The HST proves where modern railways are going wrong, Voyagers aren't as comfortable and along with the Meridans and Adelantes which don't have the same seating and luggage capacity. They aren't as easy to travel on as a regular passenger. The inability to replace them for over 25 years completely shows the lack of thought for the passenger in the privatised railways of today.

These are the best trains in the world and virgin voyagers are the worst!!!

I travel to/from London daily on a Midland Mainline 125. They are amazingly good trains, considering their age. I still prefer them to the new Meridian trains that run the same routes.

I think the death of Concorde is the biggest sin in the history of transport. However, if the HST was killed off tomorrow I would be MORE upset, such is the warmth I feel for this train. The HST stands for trips to friends and family that live far away, and the noise the make is one of my earliest and fondest memories.

I remember hearing the story of the man who got on a 125 at Paddington, hearing the Guard over the intercom - also a novelty then - announcing that "This train will shortly depart for Exeter St. David's, calling at Sluff, Reading, Didcot, etc." The man reportedly got off, as he wanted to travel to Slough...

I don't remember the exact year, i was waiting on Reading station for a connection to Stroud, when a warning was given of an approaching epress train, the 125 had obviously slowed as it was passing through the station, but then to hear the powerful throb of those diesels as the 125 accelerated out of the station was something to behold, wonderful!!
