Imagine a small box, say something that could fit 20 CDs in. Now fit about a million people inside it. This was the exact feeling of standing in the crowd at Flogging Molly in the Concrete Jungle Tent.
Before they started, the crowd was gearing up with an inflatable beach ball and a brigade of blown up condoms, then they appeared.
From an untrained eye these guys would be seen as just a couple of Irish-American middle aged men, but to this crowd they were gods.
For those who have never heard of Flogging Molly, their sound is punky Irish folk. This crazy all or nothing band give their all with pipes, violins, and electric guitars. As soon as the music starts, the crowd go literally insane.
Nowhere is safe, there isn't a mosh pit because the whole crowd IS the mosh pit. But don't be fooled, these aren't any old moshers but friendly moshers that decided to take me by the hand and Irish dance with me in the midddle of people skanking (a very scary dance) and people spinning in a very yee-hah square dance way.
I am surprised I am actually still alive, however, I am quite bruised. If you think that was manic, when they mentioned a new album coming out soon half of the crowd had decided to 'crowd surf', and I am certain all of them decided to do it on MY head only, well thats what it felt like!
I think Flogging Molly played incredibly well, doing two new songs and some of their best material, including Selfish Man and Devil's Dance - and you can imagine the crowd's response to that!
