It's the depths of summer, AKA silly season, when the absence of hard news stories can sometimes make filling the schedule of a 24-hour rolling news channel a challenge.
So thank God for surf-boarding dogs, right?
Spare a thought for news anchor Simon McCoy, whose patience with the whole thing appears to have entirely run out.
