Kuljit is reading an extract from a music magazine that they are in. Sway thinks it’s great that they’ve got half a spread in one of the top music magazines but he’s not happy with the photo of himself! They’re recalling some of the new music talent that they saw last night when Mani walks in. Mani hears them laughing at some of the musicians’ work and isn’t impressed. These people have taken time to write a melody and found lyrics that mean something to them and they’re having a laugh at a young artist’s expense. Then he storms out.
Kuljit joins Mani on a bench by the canal. Mani’s still annoyed that they were looking down at people; the real artists never get a break because of that kind of attitude. Kuljit explains that the studio is now breaking even and they are trying to help new artists but they also have to think about their profit margin, they can’t promise everyone. Mani recalls the promises Kuljit made him about his music. Mani’s even more annoyed that Mushtaq has left a letter telling him to stop being exploited and stand up for himself.
Kuljit finds Mani packing a weekend bag, he has unfinished business in London. Kuljit offers to go with him but Mani says he has to do it himself, he’s going to see someone who was an old friend called Carter.
