Unable to sleep and still raging, Rozena is up in the early hours scrubbing the oven. She wakes up Sameer banging about in the kitchen and he walks in rubbing his eyes wondering what she’s up to. She launches into a tirade against her brother. He’s never had to work for Mushtaq’s approval like her and now he just waltzes in with a ready-made grandson and her parents are over the moon!
Zenab is cooking Luca some breakfast when Rozena rings. She’s livid when Luca answers the phone and demands to know what he’s doing there, and how can they even be sure he’s their grandson! Zenab scoffs, of course he is. He’s the image of Imran. Rozena is more sceptical, she asks if her mum realises that Isabel is not Muslim. She’d better be prepared for Luca asking for sausage for his breakfast! Zenab hadn’t even thought about that. She finishes the phone call and hesitantly starts to quiz Luca about what he likes to eat. Luca asks about his dad; the shops and the football team. He loves football. Zenab explains that it all belongs to the whole family. ‘To Mama also?’ Luca asks. Zenab is lost for words at this and hurriedly changes the subject.
