The Holi preparations are in full swing with Kamla in charge. She chastises Rajan when he tries to sample the food and won’t let him make his ‘famous’ aloo chaat. She still hasn’t invited Mary, and Rita insists Kamla goes straightaway.
Sean wants to take something to the Chauhan’s and Mary finds a box of out of date chocolates for him. He protests until she gets a new box. Mary seems jealous that he’s looking forward to it. Sean tells her to come with him, she doesn’t need to be invited but Mary stubbornly refuses. Just then Kamla comes in asking airily if Mary will be coming, as if she was invited all along. Kamla boasts about how she will make sure Sean knows everything about his culture. This annoys Mary and she announces that yes, she will be there.
The celebrations are boisterous, with paint spraying everywhere and everyone becoming soaked. Even Mary enjoys it, despite herself. Kamla gets carried away though by having her new grandson with her. As she offers him some sweets she makes a shocking Freudian slip, calling Sean, ‘Jai’. Rajan laughs as Sean beats a hasty retreat, he hopes Sean is nothing like his father.
