Hassan begins to tell Shazia a bit about his past, how he met his wife at University. She changes the subject when she sees it’s becoming difficult for him though. She suggests going out that weekend but won’t make up her mind where or when. Hassan suspects there is a reason she seems to want things to be just right. When he checks her medical records later they confirm that Sunday is Shazia’s birthday. He teases her at first, claiming he can’t see her on Sunday because he’s spring cleaning with Imran. Then he confesses he knows it’s her birthday and says he’s taking her to dinner to celebrate.
Kamla wants to hold the Holi celebration at Rita’s house but she’s not happy when Rita invites Uncle Rajan. Kamla insists on doing the food herself, Saffron Ray’s snacks just won’t do. She’s going completely overboard with the preparations. Rozena calls to see Rita. When she’s gone Kamla says she hopes Rita didn’t invite her for Holi because it should only be family. Rita asks if Kamla’s invited Mary, she is family after all. Kamla says it’s not Mary’s sort of thing. Rita can see she’s trying to exclude Mary and warns her mum that she could end up driving Sean away like that.
