Jodie has stayed overnight on the barge with Kuljit and tells him how wonderful the night was. He explains that for the first time he could be with her without having to hide something from her.
Mani is searching for Jodie and when the doorbell goes, he thinks it’s her but he’s disappointed when he sees Kamla. She’s brought him some of her birthday cake which she in insists he eats because he’s looking very thin. Mani is on the brink of tears as he is more worried about Jodie not coming home last night. He tells Kamla that he knew Jodie would leave him.
Kuljit gets annoyed as there’s no sign of Ranbir at the studio. Just as he tells Jodie that he’s spoken to Nicole, Ranbir walks in. Kuljit is impressed with the track Ranbir’s been mixing. Maybe he could be the musical director for the pantomime? Ranbir says no, when Kuljit says it would look good on his CV, Ranbir says no again. Kuljit mentions the script Vinnie gave him but Ranbir denies having it and runs out when Kuljit mentions the dyslexia again.
Kamla reassures Mani that Jodie won’t be going anywhere. Mani’s glad Kamla’s back, even if it is only for a few weeks. Kamla mentions how much pain children cause, she should know, she’s always wondering when she will see Jai again.
Kuljit manages to catch Ranbir up who still doesn’t want to talk to him. Kuljit reassures Ranbir that he’s a quick learner and he will arrange for a specialist to him because later on in life, he will regret not learning how to read or write. Ranbir runs off again, this time he makes Mani stumble as he runs past him. Kuljit knows that he won’t be able to catch up with him and apologises to Mani for Ranbir’s behaviour.
