Episode Synopsis

Have your say

Zak visits Dr Hassan for vaccinations he needs for his visit to Mecca. Dr Hassan has been on hajj himself and tells Zak it’s a very rewarding experience. He describes his own trip and confesses that although he vowed to be a better person, he hasn’t lived up to those vows. Mysteriously he adds that he needs to make amends for his wrongs but he refuses to elaborate any further.

Mani finally arrives home and Jodie rushes to hug him. Mani doesn’t respond though. He’s tired and isn’t ready to see anyone yet, including Jodie it seems as he disappears to his room immediately. An hour later Mani comes downstairs but he won’t let Jodie fuss around him. Jodie wants to get him involved in his old life again so she tells him about the sheesha lounge. At first Mani is wary about the idea but as he sees how excited she is, he’s delighted that Jodie’s taking an interest in his business. Suddenly he asks where Kuljit is, worried that they might not have made things up. Jodie assures him everything is fine; Kuljit’s just staying on the barge while Mani settles in.

Zak wants to make sure that Dr Masud has enough medication for his diabetes for their trip. He reminds him that he should pack snacks for the journey and get some exercise, like Dr Hassan recommended. Dr Masud snorts,’ what does he know’. Zak tells the old man that Dr Hassan has been on hajj. He also mentions what the Doctor told him earlier. Dr Masud is intrigued, he always suspected that Dr Hassan wasn’t as sweet as he makes out.

Mani is puzzled when he can’t find ‘Bluedays’; the first album he played on. Jodie’s too ashamed to admit that she destroyed it and pretends it may be on the barge. Feeling bad about her recent behaviour she asks Mani if he wants her to move out. Mani doesn’t want her to go but just wants her to be happy. They both agree that she should stay. Suddenly they stop treading on eggshells and Jodie finally apologises for the terrible things she said. Mani tells Jodie again and again how sorry he is for everything he’s put her through. As father and daughter fall into each other’s arms they declare that this will be a new start…for them both.
