Mani is walking through a tube station. He passes a busker who immediately recognises him as the man he met a few weeks before. Ross remembers Mani was going to stay with his brother although by the look of him he has obviously been living rough. Ross insists he buy Mani a cup of tea as soon as he has finished his set.
Mani fills Ross in on how he has been surviving on the money he took from his restaurant in Birmingham but Stella keeps telling him it’ll run out soon. Ross is confused – didn’t Mani say Stella was dead? Mani describes meeting Stella and The Beatles at a party. Later the Beatles used Mani’s car on an album cover. Ross wonders why Mani walked away from it all. Mani says leaving almost destroyed him but life got in the way. And now he runs a restaurant called Saffron Rays but hates cooking and customers! Ross jokes they should call Mani’s autobiography ‘Saffron Robes to Saffron Rays’. Ross insists Mani meet him for breakfast tomorrow. He wants Mani to sign his copy of the Beatles Abbey Road album. Ross says he only busks to supplement his income whilst at University. Mani remarks on how much buskers have changed. In his day you pitched anywhere and didn’t really worry about tomorrow.
Ross needs to make his way to the Tate. Mani offers to walk with him but won’t stay as he is tired. When they arrive Ross says it’s busy because of bonfire night – they might even have fireworks later. Ross makes Mani promise to meet him tomorrow. And Mani should phone his daughter. Mani isn’t ready for that in fact he’s not sure he ever will be!
Mani makes his way back to the B&B where the landlord asks him for more money but Mani only has £10 left. Rob says either he coughs up the whole amount or he’s out. Mani offers to go to the bank. Rob laughs and jokes Mani might try his private club aswell. Maybe Mani could ask his invisible friend Stella? In fact Rob might charge her too seeing as she hangs around so much. Mani heads off to the bank as Rob shouts he won’t be holding Mani’s room for him…….
