Stephen discovers Mani sitting on his steps and asks him to move. Mani says he is remembering all the happy parties in the 1960’s. Stephen tells him to go and remember somewhere else but then recognises Mani as the busker he took to a party once. Stephen invites him inside for a coffee and they reminisce about the good old days. As they chat Stephen asks Mani if he fancies a smoke. He has a secret stash in the summer house.
In the Summerhouse Stephen tells Mani to put a record on while he sorts out a spliff. They remember that first party when they could barely see Mani playing his tablas through the haze of smoke. Mani recalls that was the night he met The Beatles and Stella. Stephen had known Stella since they were children and remembers how full of life she was then. After a while Mani is hallucinating and reckons the joint is having a strange effect on him. They are interrupted by the arrival of Stephen’s wife Lucinda who isn’t pleased about seeing Mani there. Suddenly Mani falls over a chair and ends up smashing a photo he thinks is of him and Jodie. Mani then leaves murmuring something about Stella waiting for him. Back at the B&B Mani tells a dead Stella how tired he is. Stella tells Mani that London has changed. Mani wonders if Stella is as tired as he is and then tells her how much he misses her.
Four weeks later Mary and Jodie are having breakfast in a London hotel. Jodie wonders where to start searching for Mani but Mary says they have already started. Mohit told them about Mani’s old pal Stephen and luckily he was in the phone book. Thanks to him they know Mani is visiting old haunts. And Mary has heard plenty of Mani’s anecdotes over the last thirty years to be able to remember a few names. They simply track those people down because according to Stephen that’s exactly what Mani is doing. Later Jodie becomes disheartened as they unsuccessfully work their way through the list of Mani’s old hangouts but Mary is sure Mani’s still in London somewhere – he has nowhere else to go!
