Have your say
Rita, Arun and Roopa are spending Diwali in Leicester with Uncle Rajan. Roopa sneaks outside to ring Tim, the journalist, to make arrangements. He wants to meet at Belgrave Gate where all the Diwali lights and decorations are. Roopa‘s surprised by his interest, but agrees to see him there. She hurriedly cuts the call when Arun calls her in for tea.
While Roopa’s getting ready to go and meet Tim she moans to Arun that Uncle Rajan keeps dropping hints about moving in with them. Surprisingly, Arun tells her to give the old man a break, he’s not that bad. As Roopa heads out Arun follows her, and when she tries to shake him off he becomes suspicious, teasing her that she has a secret boyfriend. Eventually she manages to lose her nosy brother and hurries into town. Tim reckons she looks perfect for the shoot when she arrives and starts getting his gear ready. Roopa didn’t realise he wanted to do the pictures right there amid the whole Diwali celebration and is worried that it will come over like a cheesy Hindi pop act. Tim reassures her, this will really make her stand out among all the other acts in the profile piece. He wonders if the rest of the band were put out that he’s only featuring her. Roopa fibs, telling Tim they are all cool with it when she hasn’t even mentioned it to Aidan, let alone the others!
Jodie is serving a customer when he goes to leave before getting his coffees. She calls after him but he tells her to cancel them; he’s just heard the police have found a body in the canal and he’s off to see what’s going on! A shiver runs down Jodie’s spine on hearing this. Yelling to someone to keep an eye on the café she races to the canal. Mary’s heard the news too and is already at the canalside, hoping against hope that her fears are unfounded. Poor Jodie is beside herself and all she can think of is her last words to Mani before he left … that she wished he was dead.
