Kuljit checks on Ranbir who is finishing off a mix at the studio. He’s been feeling down since the sheesha lounge closed. He’d enjoyed hanging out with Arun and Vinnie. Kuljit sympathises but reckons they should have gone through the right channels and done it legally. Ranbir looks at him as if Kuljit is a right old fuddy duddy. Kuljit offers to treat him to supper at Saffron Rays but Ranbir says he’s not hungry. Kuljit sighs; he wants to talk but Ranbir’s not making it easy. He sits down and gets straight to the point. Kuljit tells Ranbir he spoke to his social worker and to one of his teachers about his reading. Ranbir is taken aback; what about his reading? Kuljit explains he’s noticed Ranbir finds it difficult. Ranbir is furious. He accuses Kuljit of calling him stupid and storms off so Kuljit’s protests fall on deaf ears. He catches up with Ranbir in the park and tries to explain that he thinks Ranbir’s really bright. But if he is dyslexic that could be why he’s had problems. Noticing all the other kids about, on half term, Kuljit has a bright idea. He asks Ranbir if he’d like to go to Alton Towers with the Parkside group. Ranbir isn’t interested in going with all those kids, but how about the two of them going together, and taking Arun and Vinnie as well. They’ve got plenty of down time now!
Nadia’s busy late into the evening giving Jilani fashions a face lift with some new displays. Sway brings her doughnuts for a treat. She explains her strategy of creating a consumer experience. Sway doesn’t really know what she’s talking about but humours her saying she’s done a fantastic job; the changing rooms look amazing. Nadia points out crossly that she hasn’t started on them yet!
At the end of her tether with worry, Mary calls on the Jilani’s wondering if Mani is hiding out there. Zenab is irritated by the intrusion; she’s already told Mary a dozen times that they haven’t seen him. She tells Mary not to worry, Mani will be with some of his old musical friends. He’ll soon be back. Mary sighs; she wishes she could be so sure of that.
