Mary calls on Jodie to see if there’s been any news from Mani. She finds Jodie in a jovial mood drinking wine with Fran. Mary’s shocked that they don’t seem in the least concerned about Mani and asks if she can have a word in private. Fran takes the hint and heads out to see Sean. Mary tries to persuade Jodie to ring Mani. He’s bound to take her call. Jodie’s adamant she won’t though and tells Mary not to worry; Mani can take care of himself. Surprised by how hard Jodie seems, Mary gives in and leaves.
Kuljit’s noticed that Ranbir seems to have difficulties with reading and confides in Sean that he thinks he may have dyslexia. Sean warns him to be careful when Kuljit says he’s thinking of speaking to Ranbir’s social worker. Ranbir might not appreciate him interfering. Kuljit ponders this and asks Sean not to mention it to anyone either. He changes the subject and grumbles to Sean that every time he seems to be making headway with Jodie Fran sticks her nose in and stirs things up again. As he says this Fran joins them, surprising Sean as he thought she was staying in with Jodie. Kuljit doesn’t fancy making small talk so he hurries out saying he needs to get back to the studio. Fran wishes Sean had warned her that Mary was coming over. She’s convinced his Gran disapproves of her but all she’s doing is standing up for Jodie. Sean snaps back ‘Is that what you’re doing for Zak too?’ He’s fed up with her meddling and thinking she has all the answers, when she hasn’t. Stung by his outburst Fran tries to protest but Sean’s starting to see Fran in her true colours and storms off leaving her open mouthed.
Back on the barge, alone, Jodie has been mulling over what Mary said. She begins to worry that something might have happened to Mani so she rings his mobile. He doesn’t answer though so she leaves him a message to tell him that Mary is worried. The message rambles on with Jodie getting more and more angry and frustrated that he’s causing so much worry. As she starts to tell him that Mary’s convinced he’s lying in a gutter somewhere the time runs out and she finds herself talking to a dead line.
