Dr Masud practices for the Shairi evening but stops when he sees Shazia. She’s looking lovely and has made an effort for the occasion. He’s pleased because he’s invited some potential suitors. Shazia doesn’t seem overly enthusiastic about the short accountant or the Telford banker though. Just then, Dr Hassan arrives laden with shopping. Zak turns up as well, just in time to help with the bags. Shazia introduces them before whisking the Doctor off to the kitchen. Zak remarks that he seems like a nice bloke but Dr Masud is still not a fan.
Zak confides in Dr Masud about the police complaint. Dr Masud admires Zak for the way he has coped and admits he has something important to ask him. Dr Masud wants to perform the Hajj before he dies…and he would like Zak to accompany him to Mecca. Zak is stunned but Dr Masud tells him to think it over as he hurries off to see what Dr Hassan is up to in the kitchen. He remarks pointedly to Dr Hassan that the first guests are due soon and nothing is ready. He pokes his nose into a pot and complains there is too much paprika. Embarrassed by his rudeness Shazia hustles her dad away. Dr Hassan is not fazed though and laughing, he orders Shazia to put on an apron and get chopping! The hot kitchen gets Shazia and Dr Hassan embroiled in a heated debate. Shazia can’t work out how she feels about this confident, opinionated, attractive doctor.
After the readings are over Dr Masud thanks his guests and dedicates the evening to Kamal. Shazia calls over the applause to also thank Dr Hassan, their very own Naked Chef. Then realising what she’s said she blushes and hurries off. Dr Hassan doesn’t let her escape for long though. He steals Shazia away from one of the boring suitors and insists that he must take her to his favourite restaurant. Flustered, Shazia says she will check her diary and rushes off again.
Zak takes Dr Masud to one side. He has found the evening very moving. It has helped him make up his mind. He tells Dr Masud that he’s decided to forget about making a complaint. Performing the Hajj is a more fitting way to honour Fatima’s memory. So, he’s going to take the journey to Mecca with Dr Masud.
