Rozena fancies a cosy lie in together but Sameer reluctantly drags himself out of bed. He’s holding a session at Parkside for some teenage mums. Rozena teases him and tries to grab his notes asking him to give her a preview of his talk. He’s miffed that she won’t take it seriously and refuses but she reassures him that she is really interested. Sameer relents and explains that today’s session is about job interviews but really it’s all about helping them get some structure in their lives.
Zak’s rung in sick and Nadia pops in to see if he’s OK. She finds him on the internet, searching for information about the Police Complaints Commission. Nadia’s worried that dragging it all up again won’t help him but make things worse. He seems determined though for Fatima’s sake so Nadia offers to talk to Sameer about it.
The girls in Sameer’s session aren’t very forthcoming to begin with but he soon wins their confidence and they all start to join in. When the session is over Nadia is waiting for him. She’s been listening to the girls’ chatting and tells Sameer they reckon he’s ‘Top Totty’. She asks his advice about how Zak should go about making a complaint. It’s not Sameer’s field really but he promises to find out and get back to her.
Meanwhile Sean is shocked to find out that Zak is seriously thinking about making a complaint and that it was Fran who got him onto it. Zak explains that Fran thinks he should fight for Fatima and for justice. Sean’s concerned about his friend, and asks if it’s helping him. Zak miserably admits that it isn’t. It’s messing with his head and it won’t bring Fatima back.
As good as his word, Sameer rings a friend who is an expert in police complaints cases. Rozena comes home as they are chatting. When he’s finished his call he tells Rozena what Zak is planning to do. Like everyone else, he’s concerned for Zak. His friend’s just confirmed what he feared. It will be a long complex and emotionally shattering experience. Rozena wonders if he could cope with that on top of all he’s been through.
