Fran takes Jodie at her word and sticks to Kuljit’s side as he plays the quiz machine at the Crown. They seem to make a good team though and they hit the jackpot. Fran teases him that his expert knowledge of 1980s cheesy music clinched it. How on earth did Kuljit remember when Rick Astley topped the charts? Kuljit explains that 1987 sticks in his mind…it’s the year his mum died.
Sameer has organised the guest list on his lap top and Jaggy asks him to add Kenny and Sandra to the list to placate Kenny. Apparently he’s not too happy about Jaggy taking his honeymoon right at the start of the new season. Jaggy hopes Jinx is pulling his weight in the best man department as well and Sameer explains they’ve got it all covered between them. He’s in charge of Southall and Jinx is charge of Bury. Jaggy confides in Sameer that Simran’s been acting strangely and wonders if she’s having second thoughts about marrying him. Jaggy shakes that thought off and swiftly changes the subject asking how things are between Sameer and Rozena now. Sameer admits that it’s getting better, so much better in fact that they are trying for another baby. Jaggy’s delighted with the news and calls for another round.
Fran’s shocked to hear about Kuljit’s early life and wishes she hadn’t given him such a hard time. She tells Kuljit she was only looking out for Jodie. They seem to be getting on much better until Fran makes a cryptic comment about whether it is the right thing to do to tell someone the truth after they’ve been lied to and the lie made them happy. Kuljit knows she’s talking about Mani and begs her not to say anything to Jodie yet. Fran is taken aback that Kuljit knows Mani’s secret and has kept it from Jodie. He explains that it wasn’t that easy, Mani begged him. Fran thinks she understands; she accuses Kuljit of letting Mani bribe him with money for the studio. Kuljit protests that had nothing to do with it, he was just protecting Jodie. Fran’s not convinced though. Jodie came to Silver Street looking for the truth; doesn’t Kuljit think she deserves that?
