Mary tells Arun that Sean has been a bit detached since the lads returned from Newquay. She wonders what Sean is planning to do with his life long-term and is told he is probably mulling various options over. Arun says he on the other hand is determined to work in the music business and it’s all about keeping his passion alive. Mary reckons Sean’s passion can’t be working in his Gran’s pub! Later Jodie pops in and seems a little flustered with the arrangements for Mani’s birthday party. Mary confirms she will be there. Jodie says Vinnie’s dad Mohit will be making a surprise appearance. Mary hasn’t seen Mohit for years and promises to keep the visit secret from Mani.
Elsewhere Fran is telling Sean how much she loves living on the barge. Sean jokes this could be her subtle way of giving him the elbow. Fran denies this saying a bit of space between them can’t be a bad thing. Sean reckons he needs to get off and open up the pub. Arun pops in and tells Sean that Mary was asking questions about Newquay. The boys discuss how close they came to losing Zak in the boat accident. Arun says they’ve got another chance at things and need to make the most of it. After all life is what you make it! Later Mary offers Sean the opportunity to run the pub. Mary would still be around to help but the ultimate responsibility would be his. Sean says he’ll think about it. There’s Suresh’s offer of working in New York to consider too.
Meanwhile Fran is disappointed when Jodie makes excuses about going on a protest later. What happened to the Jodie who was full of fire about injustices in the world? Jodie says she still cares but a lot of her past anger was really about Mani. Now things are sorted with her dad anger isn’t her driving emotion anymore and besides she has a business to run. Fran reckons Jodie is only staying put in Silver Street for Mani’s sake and everything else is an excuse. Besides how can Jodie be so sure that Mani has been telling her the truth about not knowing she existed? Does Jodie really believe him over her own mother?
