Have your say
Rita and Pradeep sort out the rest of Kamla’s things to be shipped to New York. Roopa offers to help but she gets the cold shoulder. She wants to get the lectures over and done with but strangely, her parents don’t seem to want to talk about it. Annoyed that she can’t provoke a reaction Roopa flounces off to the park where she bumps into Sean. She greets him frostily, still annoyed that he grassed her up. Sean feels bad about getting her into trouble and apologises for not talking to her first. Roopa relents accepting that she shouldn’t have used the lads to cover up for her in the first place. Roopa heads off to see Aidan but Sean’s a bit surprised they are still an item.
Pradeep watches Roopa through the window in despair. How did their children end up so selfish and uncaring? He tells Rita he can’t keep up the nonchalant act much longer, they need to have it out with Roopa. Rita tries to calm him down, it’s not easy for her either but Roopa’s vulnerable; they need to be careful.
Later Rita gets a shock when she finds out that an ex client, Mrs Doshi, has died from her brain tumour, leaving her husband alone to cope with three young children. She’s so upset Pradeep suggests they visit the family, maybe take some food to help him out. Rita agrees and imagines how he must be feeling. It makes their problem with Roopa seem less important. Pradeep warns her not to brush it under the carpet pretending things are fine when they aren’t.
Aidan’s not really listening as Roopa goes on about her parents won’t talk to her. He can’t see why its such a big deal, Roopa’s seventeen after all. He’s more concerned about when they are going to talk about their own relationship. He asks Roopa tentatively if they are still together. Roopa tells Aidan straight, he treated her like a doormat and a skivvy. He can’t go off with random girls and just expect her to put up with it. So its up to him, he has to treat her with some respect and like an equal member of the band. If he can do all that then maybe he’ll get another chance!
