Kamla twirls around showing off her new sari for Independence Day. She remarks pointedly that at least she’s made the effort. Ambika hasn’t even appeared yet. Just then Ambika walks in looking a little hung over. Kamla starts to tell Jas how surprised Rita was when she told her that she still hadn’t been to see a show. Ambika sighs and says she’ll arrange some tickets. Kamla is surprised at her change of heart but still suspicious of her motives. Feeling sorry for Ambika, Jas hisses at Ba to leave it alone, she’s just being nice.
Jas takes some painkillers up to Ambika and apologises for upsetting her last night. She says she can’t face going to Coney Island but Ambika insists. They can’t let Suresh down.
At Coney Island Jas makes a bee-line for her confidante, Greg and tells about last night’s events. He’s not surprised Ambika chooses to ignore Suresh’s infidelities. She’s got a lovely house, a place in India and a happy family as a trade off. They turn their attention to the dodgems where Kamla is screaming at her grandson Vishaal to let her have the wheel. Suresh and Ambika join them arm in arm. Jas still can’t get her head round the happy family act but Greg snaps her out of it and drags her off to see his candy floss trick.
Later Jas catches Kamla filling Greg in with all the details of every resident in Silver Street. Greg’s enthralled and reckons he can’t wait to visit. Suresh corners Jas alone later, asking if she’s enjoying herself. He doesn’t want them to fall out. Jas assures him she doesn’t want that either. Then Suresh surprises her saying there might be an opportunity for her in their ethical department; helping to develop strategies to stop drug counterfeiting. He could put a word in for her if she’s interested. Jas jumps at the chance. It’s just up her street. She can’t wait to tell Greg all about it. She says she’s taking his advice and letting Suresh and Ambika run their lives the way they want. There’s one thing left to do though. A couple of tequila slammers later she finally makes that call. And when Vinnie gets her message he’ll know where he stands at last. For now, they are on a break!
