Shazia arrives home late and angry after a grilling from the whip’s office. Dr Masud tells his daughter it will soon blow over. Shazia is furious he isn’t taking it seriously. He could have ruined everything she’s worked so hard for. Dr Masud is adamant though that he’s not sorry for what he did. It was his duty as a Muslim, and as a human being. With all Shazia’s connections she couldn’t do anything to help Kamal so he had to. Shazia just hopes that with her connections to the police liaison committee she might be able to keep this from going public. She softens towards her father knowing it’s herself she’s angry with really and asks his advice. Should she go public with the story and have some control over it…or just hope that it doesn’t leak out. She decides to face up to it and make a statement. But it’s too late; the press are already at the front door.
Zak can’t face anyone and hides away in his room. Nadia tries to persuade him to come downstairs but he wants to be alone. He can make himself believe Fatima’s just out at a lecture, or in the shower that way. Nothing Nadia says can make him feel better and he tells his sister he wishes he’d died with Fatima. Nadia gasps and assures him that they will get through this together. Zak asks her if she’d believe that if she’d just lost Sway. Nadia tries to understand what he’s going through. She tells her brother she can feel how much he loved Fatima and assures him that he’ll never lose that.
Dr Masud and Shazia are under siege from journalists asking questions about Dr Masud funding terrorist activities. Shazia shouts at them that it’s a ludicrous accusation and orders them off their property before she calls the police. She shuts her father up as he tries to answer their questions; he’s done enough already! A journalist gets her foot in the doorway and reasons with Shazia that if she doesn’t give them an interview and put across her side of the story it will be worse for her. Shazia manages to shut the journalist out but sighs as she realises that she’s right.
