The news of Fatima’s death sends shockwaves around Silver Street. Dr Masud wonders if he should send flowers. Shazia wishes she could have helped Zak more, how can she defend the police raid when it caused a young girl’s death? That morning the police arrive at Dr Masud’s door to take him to the station for questioning. Dr Masud has been expecting this; they must have found out he funded Kamal’s passport. Shazia is confused though; she can’t see what it’s got to do with him. Dr Masud assures her everything will be ok and goes with the police.
Sway breaks the news to Kuljit and tells him Zak is still in custody. Kuljit lays the blame firmly on Talib. Sway reminds him that as far as they know Talib’s done nothing wrong. Kuljit has his suspicions though. It seems like trouble follows Talib around. He tells Sway they need to help Zak and says he’s going to tell the police everything he knows about Talib. Sway can’t understand how that will help Zak and accuses Kuljit of just trying to get his own back on Talib for the café boycott.
Kuljit is waiting at the police station to make a statement when they bring Dr Masud in. He asks Kuljit to ring Shazia to let her know he’s ok. Kuljit agrees; wondering what on earth they want with the doctor. Just then he’s called in to make his statement though so he has no chance to find out more. Afterwards Kuljit rings Sway to tell him he saw Dr Masud being carted in; someone else Talib’s dragged down no doubt. Sway is angry at his friend’s prejudice but he has more important things on his mind. He tells Kuljit that Fatima’s funeral is planned for that afternoon. Kuljit says he’ll be there for Zak. Sway’s not convinced Kuljit’s got Zak’s best interests at heart but he doesn’t want to get into an argument. Zak’s still in custody, Nadia’s upset and she’s his priority.
