Nadia pops in to see Sway. She’s missing him but she feels she needs to be with her parents right now. Also, the last thing the Akhtars want is having to introduce Sway to Fatima’s parents.
At the Parkside Centre, Shazia prepares for a public meeting. Nadia asks if there’s anything she can do to help Zak. Shazia explains she can’t interfere in police investigations, especially with the new anti-terrorism laws. Nadia is determined to help her brother and declares she’ll raise it at the meeting to put pressure on the police. Shazia and Sway both try and put her off. She could do more harm than good. Nadia feels she has to do something to help Zak as she confides in Sway that it’s her fault that Fatima was hurt. If only she’d listened to Fatima at Sway’s party, she wouldn’t have left the pub and the car wouldn’t have hit her.
Zak is still being questioned about Talib and then the police woman throws in another name…Firoz Khan, the name on Kamal’s fake passport. Zak doesn’t recognise the name but the officer persists. She accuses Zak of helping Firoz Khan escape to Pakistan on a fake passport. They’ve caught the men who sold the passport to Talib. Then the penny drops and Zak’s heart sinks. He tries to find out what Talib has said but the officer isn’t giving anything away. Zak realises he can’t stall any longer, and driven by an urgent need to get out and see Fatima he confesses that he and Talib bought the passport. The officer piles on the pressure, wanting to know where they got the money from. Zak is tired and worried and he can’t stand up to the intense questioning. Even though he doesn’t want to implicate anyone else the whole story soon comes spilling out about Kamal. He still won’t say where they got the money from though until the officer tells him ominously that he won’t see his wife until he tells them everything. Zak can’t stand the idea and blurts out that it Dr Masud. The officer is shocked; Dr Masud…Shazia Malik’s father she asks. Zak confirms that’s right, Dr Masud gave them £3000, can he go and see Fatima now he pleads as the police officer rushes out of the interview room slamming the door behind her.
