Kuljit visits Ranbir; the boy he is mentoring, for the first time. Ranbir’s foster mother, Corinne introduces them then leaves them to get acquainted. As Ranbir fixes a coffee for him, Kuljit asks him about school. He knows Ranbir’s been excluded and has work to do at home so Kuljit offers to help him. Ranbir’s delighted but its short lived when he realises Kuljit isn’t going to give him all the answers. Kuljit sits down with him though and they work through some maths problems together. The way Kuljit explains things helps and Ranbir is soon tackling the questions without too much trouble. Ranbir wants to do a music BTEC but he needs to pass enough modules to get on the course. He can’t see the point of maths though. Kuljit explains that when he was putting the studio together it was just like a maths problem, working out the space and measurements. So if Ranbir wants to be a hot shot producer in LA he needs to start with his maths homework.
Pradeep muses about when they’ll have to talk to Krishan about girls; it’s only a matter of time. Rita tells him to deal with one problem at a time. It’s Roopa they need to talk to. They can’t stop her seeing Aidan, and after him there will be more. After all, Roopa’s an attractive girl. Pradeep thinks Rita should talk to her. Rita says thanks a lot; she doesn’t remember Pradeep having that conversation with Arun when he was seeing Mindy! Rita reckons they have to make sure that if Roopa’s having sex she’s doing it safely. Pradeep gasps; this is all too much for him to hear. Rita tells him to grow up, it’s obvious Pradeep is going to be no help; she’ll just have to deal with it on her own.
When they get home, Rita asks Roopa if it’s alright if they have a chat, about safe sex. Roopa wonders why everyone’s so obsessed with her private life. Rita sighs; Jas would deal with this so much better she says. Roopa furiously tells her mum if she’s so much hassle she should just stick her head in the sand like she usually does. Storming off Roopa snaps that it’s her business and she’ll deal with it herself!
