Zak and Fatima are just leaving for Katie’s Mendhi night as Talib comes in. He’s bogged down with work for a charity he’s volunteered for. Fatima wants to get involved when he tells her about the injured kids in war zones that the charity helps. Zak is concerned though; Talib’s printing leaflets for the charity. People might take it the wrong way after the problems they had with leafleting at the café.
Simran and Roopa have lavishly decorated the suite for Katie’s mendhi night. Simran panics when the guests start to arrive before Fatima; who’s going to do the mendhi? Just then Fatima rushes in and grabs some rose petals off Simran just in time to greet the bride and groom. Everyone gasps to see how gorgeous Katie looks in her emerald green lengha.
On his way home Zak is pulled over by the police on a random check. The policeman questions him about the car and his movements. He wants to look in the boot and the back seat. Zak feels he’s been targeted because of his appearance but he co-operates grudgingly. By the time he gets home Zak is really angry over the way the police treated him…just because he’s a Muslim. He tells Talib about his experience but asks him not to mention it to Fatima, he doesn’t want to upset her.
The mendhi night is a great success with music, dancing and lots of Mendhi. As Fatima works on an intricate design for Katie Simran fills her in on the details about Nadia and Sway. She also warns Fatima about her new mother in law! Fatima is shocked by the story and reckons it must have been really tough on Nadia. Roopa is next in line for henna. She wants something glittery for her debut with Aidan’s band tomorrow. But before Fatima can make a start Roopa disappears onto the dance floor to give the groom a bit of help with his moves!
