It’s Kuljit’s birthday celebration at the Golden Crown but his party has been hijacked by Kamla’s leaving do. Kuljit notices amongst his birthday cards is a postcard from Marrakech. Jodie says it’s from her friend Fran.
Mary talks to Pete about how well Sway and Kuljit have done since they got to Silver Street. Pete thinks she’s having a dig because he hasn’t done anything with his life. Mary reassures him that his chance will come, Pete’s not convinced.
Roopa heads for the champagne but Arun stops her, she’ll get a reputation, sleeping around and now drinking too? Roopa threatens him again, does she have to remind him of their deal? Jas tells Arun that he has to treat Roopa like an adult and if she goes to America, she’s relying on him to keep an eye on her.
Siobhan takes the drinks through to Kamla who doesn’t want anything that’s got her filthy hands on it. Ambika apologises to Siobhan for Kamla’s behaviour who wonders whose side Ambika is on. Siobhan says she’s only there to support Pete who had to answer questions from the Police about her son laundering money. Siobhan shouts back at least she’s not running away and has guts to face people. If someone should hide, it should be her for bringing up a son like that. Suresh comes to the rescue of a shaken Kamla and wonders where Ambika is. Upstairs, Siobhan pours Ambika a vodka who says hopefully US immigration won’t allow Kamla through the gate with her horse blankets!
Vinnie tells Jas that going to America is an amazing opportunity but she should have said something before. He reassures her it’s the right thing to do and he’s really happy for her. She can’t let anyone hold her back, and he knows what that feels like.
As Pete and Mary close up, Pete says he wants to move on. He needs to do something for himself and has been offered a job in Newquay. Mary tells him not to be hasty but Pete is adamant, she won’t be able to change his mind this time.
