As they prepare for bed Rozena tells Sameer about a horrible dream she had last night. Sameer reckons its all those hormones running around. Rozena’s scared though; she hasn’t felt the baby kick all day. Sameer bundles her into the car and sets off for the hospital at speed. When they arrive Rozena is rushed in for a scan. The sonographer is quiet as she looks at the monitor. She can’t find a heartbeat and he leaves Rozena and Sameer with their hearts in their mouths as she goes to find a doctor.
Roopa needs a man’s opinion on a delicate matter and goes to the Crown to ask Sean’s advice. She tells him about a ‘friend’ who is seeing a guy a bit older than her and isn’t sure whether she should take the relationship a step further. Sean asks if the guy has been pressurising her but Roopa assures him that he’s been really sweet and that her ‘friend’ trusts him. Sean reckons that if it’s what she wants and she’s not being pushed into anything her ‘friend’ should make sure that her first time is be a bit special, not in the back of a car. Later when Roopa sees her mum putting away the keys to the City Farm portacabin she has a bright idea. She and Aidan won’t be disturbed there.
The doctor sits Sameer and Rozena down and prepares them for the worst. With difficulty he explains to them that their baby boy has died. Rozena breaks down and sobs for the son she has lost. Sameer can’t take it in but Rozena quickly pulls herself together and wants to know what happens next. The Doctor tells her that they will give her some medication to start her labour. She’ll have to come back in a couple of days to deliver the baby. Sameer still can’t believe it; distraught, he asks the doctor why it’s happened. They only had a scan a few days ago and the baby was fine. The doctor tells them gently that unfortunately these things just happen sometimes. They can do a post mortem and take some tests after the baby’s been delivered. But right now they should go home and try and take in what’s happened together. It’s not going to be easy.
