Simran greets her new clients and starts by showing them the bridal collection. She’s put together a selection of traditional English dresses but is disappointed to see that they obviously don’t like them. Katie explains, the reason they wanted Simran as their wedding planner was because they don’t want a traditional English wedding, they want a full on Asian theme with the outfits, music, mendhi the works! The groom even wants to arrive on a white stallion; that is if an elephant is out of the question. Simran’s delighted as she gets out all her usual catalogues but she suggests they should make a list of the things they definitely want so they can try and keep to a budget.
Suresh meets Jai down by the canal where no-one will see them. Suresh wonders why Jai called him out of the blue. Jai reckons he just fancied a trip to the States but Suresh isn’t buying it. He asks his little brother if he realises how much trouble he’s caused. Jai tells him that’s why he had to get away, but now he’s realised that he needs to face the music and make things up to his family – to Sean. Suresh won’t let Jai off the hook and tells his brother that every time he messes up it’s his family that has to clear up after him. Nothing’s changed since he was a kid in the Youth Offenders unit. Suresh has always had to keep the family together. Jai snaps back that Suresh was never there for him. He was the golden boy and Jai never got a look in with his father. He recalls the time he made his dad a cabinet at school and brought it home proudly. But all his father was interested in was academic results – ‘You can buy a cabinet from a store’. Suresh is fed up of hearing Jai blame his problems on everyone else and tells him the best thing he could do for Sean is to stay away from him. Jai is furious that Suresh is still trying to control him and declares he can’t stop him from being a father to Sean. Suresh tells him not to worry; he’ll take care of Sean. Suresh warns Jai if he tries to get round Rita and Pradeep he won’t hesitate, he’ll tell the police where he is.
