The Chauhans are in India and Jas and Roopa wake up early. Roopa’s been up late texting Aidan, but Jas is more concerned about her parents, especially when Roopa reports they’re sleeping in separate rooms. Roopa tells Jas she heard their Auntie Ambika arrive last night, and Suresh sounded surprised to see her.
Everyone has breakfast together. Ambika says she couldn’t miss out on the family gathering, so has left their kids with their nanny. She’s wondering why they’re all there and Suresh explains that they all needed a break. She presses for more answers, and Pradeep disappears to the kitchen. He talks to the cook, Niresh, asking about his home and wondering whether he could use some of his recipes at his restaurant. Ambika interrupts him – he’s supposed to be on holiday, and shouldn’t be distracting the staff.
Arun’s amazed and upset by the beggars on the street, so Kamla distracts them by showing them where Rita’s father set sail to England. Meanwhile Jas talks to Suresh about his work in India. He explains that he works for a pharmaceutical company, testing cardiac drugs on volunteer patients. Jas is horrified, and accuses him of being unethical but he assures her that he’s a doctor and his job is saving lives. The rest of the family are watching Pradeep eating food from a stall. Arun and Krishan want to try some, but Roopa tells her Mum it all looks unhygienic. Pradeep tells them it’s a proper Indian experience but Rita thinks getting ill’s an experience they don’t need. Amika remarks that Pradeep seems really happy about being there, and asks Rita how things are. Rita tells her all’s fine and anyway, how do she and Suresh manage with him jetting all over the place? Ambika tells her it keeps their marriage exciting.
Later Ambika tells Suresh she’s noticed Rita and Pradeep are in separate beds. She wants to know what’s going on. Suresh fills her in but Ambika wants to know why Suresh has brought his mother, and surely having her living with them too can’t be helping their marriage?
Krishan and Pradeep talk about their visit to Pradeep’s village. Pradeep tells Krishan he’ll love it there. Krishan says he’s so happy they’re all there together even though Pradeep hates his Mum. Can’t Pradeep give Rita a chance? Pradeep’s shocked. He certainly doesn’t hate Rita.
