Nadia takes an early lunch from the salon to visit Kamal at his flat after his appeal for asylum was rejected. She’s been doing some research on the internet and thinks he could still be in with a chance to appeal against the ruling, but he’s despondent and thinks it would be easier to go underground. Nadia reminds him how much he wanted to get established legally in the UK so he could feel safe and bring his Mum and Sister over. Even if he can’t stay in the country he could go to them in Pakistan – her family would help sort out a place for him to stay. Kamal remains unconvinced, there’s no way he’ll be deported to Pakistan. He’s certain he’ll be sent to Afghanistan where he’ll be killed just like his brother trying to cross the border to Pakistan. He’s tired of appealing and seems decided, going on the run surely can’t be as dangerous as going back to Afghanistan.
Over at Silverhill Ranger’s F.C Mushtaq’s frantic, his star player Liam Summerton hasn’t turned up for the press call and their other ‘attraction’ Harry Nixon the club’s oldest fan seems confused and keeps calling him Valerie! Meanwhile Jaggy calls Simran to find out where Liam is, much to her surprise – she didn’t know Jaggy knew she was seeing him. Kenny also leaves messages for Liam. He’s worried that if he doesn’t turn up the waiting journalists will wonder what’s happened to him and begin to make their own stories up. Just as Rozena prepares to tell the journalists there’s been a change of plan, Liam calls. He claims to be ‘otherwise engaged’ in London. The press call is a disaster in Mushtaq’s eyes and he’s fed up with Rozena setting up silly publicity stunts when they need to focus on holding onto their talent. He’s worried about Liam’s commitment to the club and goes to the office to call him – there’s no way he’s going to let him walk out on him.
