Mary arrives back from her honeymoon just before the celebration of New Year. Mary hopes there have been no dramas whilst she’s been away. A flustered Sean quickly changes the subject. Mary then wonders what Brian is doing behind the bar and where’s Siobhan?
Vinnie tries to get Pradeep to join him and Mani for a New Year drink rather than sitting in front of the TV. Luckily Jas knocks on the door and Vinnie warns her that her dad is in a bad way.
Arun tries to get Rita in the celebratory mood but she wants to stay in and watch TV. She also unplugs the computer cable so that Krishan can have a break, she can’t believe how much work the school has given him. Arun succeeds by using his powers of persuasion on her.
Pradeep tells Jas she shouldn’t be worrying about him. She should be out with her friends and it’s obvious that she is trying to get him and Rita together but it’s not going to happen. She manages to persuade him and tries to get him to shave and get out of his pyjamas saying Rita will be at home with Krishan anyway.
At the Golden Crown, whilst Arun is at the bar, Mary asks Rita where Pradeep is and Siobhan for that matter. Rita can’t take much more and goes to find Arun. When Pradeep walks in her is furious with Jas for setting them up.
Rita knows Arun has set her up but what if Pradeep doesn’t want to talk to her, she’s so nervous too. As Mary counts down to the beginning of 2008, Pradeep wants to leave as Rita heads over to speak to him. He frostily tells her this wasn’t his idea. Rita wants to start afresh but Pradeep is not interested and leaves. Rita ends up in tears telling Jas that he hates her, he’ll never forgive her.
