Sean is unwilling to give Siobhan a chance to explain why she didn’t tell him Jai was his father. He believes she has been lying to him since she re-entered his life and now wouldn’t believe a word she says.
Jai tells Rita he is surprised she is helping him to escape and also believes Sean is better off without him. Rita tells him she’s taking him to Leicester to stay with uncle Rajan until things blow over and if he has money then maybe he should go to America and stay with Suresh. Jai tells Rita he appreciates what she’s doing for him but she says she only wants him to be safe. Roopa is worried about Rita and when Kamla suggests calling Jai again Roopa tells her it’s all his fault that things have gone wrong in the first place.
Siobhan explains to Sean that when she first met Jai she found him dangerous and exciting. Now she realises it was a mistake. But she has no regrets about having Sean and Hannah …when she looks at them she knows she’s done something right. Siobhan tells Sean that sometimes the truth doesn’t make sense. She knows she’s been a rubbish mother to him and perhaps should have stood up to Mary more in the past and made sure she got to see him. Sean is unsympathetic towards Siobhan and thinks she’s making excuses as usual. Siobhan tells Sean she wanted him to hold on to something – the idea of a father who was decent. But the harsh reality is his father isn’t a good man.
Jai tells Rita he thought Siobhan was different and that’s why he hooked up with her but she soon went off with a married man. Well, that’s what she told him at the time. Jai apologises to Rita about the things he’s said to her in the past. Rita tells him to wait while she goes to the loo. But when she gets back Jai has disappeared. According to the cleaner at the service station Jai got himself a ride with some bloke.
Sean checks Siobhan’s bag and realises she had every intention of leaving with Jai. Siobhan says when it came to leaving she couldn’t do it because she’s his mother and she loves him. Sean pushes Siobhan out of the pub telling her he hates her and Jai and he doesn’t need them in his life.
