Sean avoids Siobhan by hiding in his bedroom. Brian and Siobhan talk about the mess she’s made of everything. Later, Siobhan finds it a struggle to keep a happy face as Hannah opens her presents. Mark tells her she only needs to pretend for a few minutes more for Hannah’s sake and then they’ll be gone.
Rita visits Pradeep at work and tells him that Sean is Jai’s son. Pradeep says he already knows. Rita says if he already knows then why hasn’t he come home? Pradeep says he wasn’t sure she’d believe him. Rita assures him she would have believed him and it was nothing but a stupid mistake.
Hannah insists on giving Sean a Christmas card before she leaves. Sean is disappointed to hear that Siobhan won’t be leaving with Mark and Hannah. Mark tries to talk to Sean about Siobhan but he’s not interested. Mark asks Siobhan when she expects to be back in Manchester. She says she’s not sure as she still needs to speak to Sean. Mark says he’ll see her when he sees her unless she decides to run off with Jai. Mark hands Siobhan a Christmas present saying he’s kept the receipt in case she doesn’t like what he’s got for her. Before she has chance to open it he tells her it’s the earrings she likes from the design students show. Siobhan gasps at the fact he’s ruined the surprise. But Mark thinks they’ve both had enough of surprises this Christmas.
Pradeep is hurt by the fact Rita chose to believe Siobhan over him. Rita believes if Siobhan hadn’t lied they wouldn’t be in this mess right now. Pradeep tells Rita they’re in this mess because of her. She treated him like a dog in front of Jai and Siobhan – shooed him away like he was a nobody. Pradeep believes he was never good enough to marry Rita as he’s from a lower caste. Pradeep takes a call from Mani as Rita begs him to talk to her. But he dismisses her telling Mani she was just leaving.
