Have your say
Zenab is upset but Sameer reassures her that Imran will get to speak later.
Dawn’s going home saying lawyers are paid to lie but Gary wants to know what happened the day his dad died. Gary also tells her Imran did not try to kill him In Wales, she reminds him that if it wasn’t for him, his dad would still be alive.
Imran recalls the night of the incident saying he went looking for Rozena. He got concerned as there had been trouble in the area such as bricks through the window etc. He got to the allotments and saw the knife at Rozena’s throat, then everything happened quickly.
In the cafeteria, Zenab is comforted by placing her faith in the thaveez but Sameer suggests just having some faith in justice. Zenab thanks him for being there for Rozena.
Thorne questions Imran who tells the Court about when Mickey’s gang, the Silverhill Firm ripped up posters, started fighting and shouting insults when they were painting Anti-Nazi League posters at the Parkside. Imran explains that an Asian kid had killed a white boy, he wanted to tell the Police but was more worried about Mickey’s gang finding out. Every minute of every day, he saw him lying there and still does.
The Prosecution can’t understand how Imran could overpower a 21year old and how can he remember some things in minute detail and yet he doesn’t know what kind of knife he used especially as it was from Jilani Stores. Imran explains he was just defending himself and Rozena. Fraser moves on to asking questions about his family, how his mum left for Pakistan? Fraser suggests the allotment site was a place for ‘courting couples’ so maybe Rozena was having a relationship with him? He knew that they were at the allotments and to maintain the family honour, he went to stop Mickey?
Gary confronts Dawn when he gets home. He didn’t even know Mickey had a brother, she’s lied to him. Dawn says she’d say anything to get Imran banged up and besides whose side is he on anyway? Gary just wants to know about his dad who now appears to be a lowlife. Dawn slaps him which confirms to him that she’s been lying all along about what Mickey was like.
