As Zenab and Rozena prepare to go to Court, Sameer arrives. Rozena is shocked to see him but also relieved and throws her arms around him. Meanwhile Dawn also gets ready too and tells Gary that Mickey would be proud if he saw them today.
Thorne, Imran’s defence tells him that the police will take him to court and bring him back to the cell every night. He went walkabout a week before the trial so they don’t want him disappearing again. She hands him coffee, paracetomol and a new shirt which she says she will add to his bill. His dad left a suit for him. Imran is gutted that he wasn’t able to see him.
As the Jilani’s enter Court, Dawn starts hurling abuse at them but Mushtaq tells her to save her breath until after the case has ended. Mushtaq reminds her that Imran also saved her son. Dawn continues ranting that it has taken Imran 15 years to confess but Mushtaq defends his son, at least he is facing up to his responsibilities now. He’d appreciate if she left him and his family alone.
In Court, Imran pleads not guilty and the case begins. Fraser the Prosecution says that he will seek to prove that it was premeditated murder on that night whilst Ms Thorne will set to prove it was self-defence. Questioning begins and Dawn paints a picture of Mickey being a saint. He would have been a good dad, he only went for cigarettes and as Rozena fancied him, Mickey arranged to meet her later to tell her to get lost.
In the cafeteria, Rozena is annoyed, they’ve portrayed it like she was ‘asking for it’. Sameer reassures her that the jury will see Dawn for what she is and the Defence haven’t spoken to her yet.
Thorne then questions Dawn. She has evidence that Mickey assaulted his own brother. Also, when he was found, his zip and belt were undone so maybe he was looking for comfort in Rozena? Dawn thinks Mickey would never have touched her, it would have been her after him and she also thinks Imran tried to kill Gary too by pushing him in the cave. Zenab can’t believe her ears.
