Imran’s barrister advises him on his conduct at the forthcoming trial reminding him they only have a week to go. Thorne adds fortunately they should have enough on Mickey Reynolds for things to go in Imran’s favour. They need to concentrate on establishing Mickey’s violent background in order for the jury to believe Imran acted in self defence. Imran is worried about Mickey’s son Gary hearing the truth about his father. Thorne says it’s either that or Imran spends the next 10 years in prison.
Gary is at the centre complaining to Sway about the footballs. Gary almost drops a ball on Kesar on his way out. Simran tells him to watch it and then asks Sway why he lets Gary talk to him like that. Sway says he is making concessions for Gary due to the trial next week. Simran asks if Kamla is around as she is hoping to leave Kesar with her for a few hours. Sway says she’s out. Simran says she could do with Jaggy’s help but he is still in Bury waiting to hear about the coaching job. Sway wonders if Simran has heard from Nadia since she went to Pakistan. Simran says she hasn’t and doesn’t even know if Nadia is coming back.
Elsewhere Jaggy probes Faye again about the bruise on her eye. Faye should be able to tell him anything. Faye finally admits it was her friend Sheryl who hit her during a drunken night out and suggests they go out to eat. Later Jaggy phones Simran from the restaurant to see how Kesar is and pretends he is having dinner with his parents.
Imran waits for Gary who refuses to speak to him and runs off. Imran catches up with him at the canal side. Gary asks if Imran is here to finish him off like he did with his dad Mickey. Imran says he is here to warn Gary that he will hear some unpleasant things about his dad at the trial. Gary attacks Imran saying he should kill him right now to put things right. Imran breaks free after a struggle and tries to tell Gary what really happened that night. Gary accuses Imran of lying and warns him to stay away or he’ll call the police. He runs off leaving Imran standing alone in the rain….
