It’s Krishan’s first day at Heatherton Grammar and Rita wants a photo of him in his brand new uniform. She notices that the camera’s memory is nearly full and checks the images. Rita’s puzzled to see several pictures of the satchel she bought for Krishan. Krishan reluctantly confesses that he and Arun have put it on an auction site.
Rita has trouble parking outside the school. Krishan is embarrassed by the hold up she’s causing so he begs her to let him out in the middle of the road. Rita gives in and lets him go, but not until she’s handed him his lunch. Kamla has made him samosas. Krishan is horrified, he doesn’t want to go in smelling of curry so Rita gives him his sandwich box instead containing cheese sandwiches, as requested. Krishan sees Matty and dashes off leaving Rita feeling a bit deflated.
Sway is getting ready with Qasim for support. He’s still not sure if his mum and Gramps will turn up and wonders whether he should phone them again. Qasim advises him to leave it, there will be plenty of people there for him.
The Akhtars wait at the Mosque with the Imam. As Pervaiz sees Sway walking towards them in his Shalwar Kurta he becomes choked with emotion. Qasim and Sway greet the Akhtars and Pervaiz and Nadia both comment how different Sway looks dressed like that. Sway takes Pervaiz to one side and asks if he would be his witness. Hugging Sway, Pervaiz declares he’d be proud to.
The Imam begins the ceremony, reciting the Shahada for Sway to repeat. Sway nervously repeats the first words but as the Imam continues Sway appears to be in difficulties and can’t go on. As Zak and Qasim encourage him Sway begins to back away and then turns to leave the Mosque leaving everyone in confusion. Qasim runs after him closely followed by Nadia while the Imam tries to reassure the others that Sway is probably just overwhelmed with the situation.
Outside Qasim catches up with Sway and asks if he’s having a panic attack. Sway spots Nadia and hides pulling Qasim with him. It’s not nerves he tells Qasim, he just can’t go through with it.
