Have your say
Roopa fills Bina in on her visit to the careers advisor. Despite her reservations it has helped, she’s found a Performing Arts course she’s interested in. Bina breaks it to Roopa that they’re auditioning at Kuljit’s studio later. Roopa protests they’re nowhere near ready but Bina’s organised everything; outfits, choreography and music, they just need to rehearse.
Mushtaq calls to see the studio and is impressed with Kuljit’s progress. He spots a local newspaper and picks up the sports page to read an article about Silverhill Rangers. Kuljit’s surprised, he didn’t think Mushtaq was into football; he kept disappearing during the world cup game. Mushtaq assures Kuljit he was very interested as he privately remembers Shazia hiding in the cupboard! Mushtaq asks what Sway thinks of the studio but Kuljit says Sway’s been too busy. Mushtaq says of course, he forgot Sway was taking the Shahada this week. Shocked, Kuljit tries to make out he knows all about it.
Nadia pops into the Parkside centre with a gift of some Halal perfume for Sway. He tells her Qasim should be arriving in a couple of hours but he’s not holding out much hope for his family turning up. They’ve sent him a ‘Thinking of you’ card, as if he was dying or something!
Roopa and Bina arrive in their sparkliest outfits and highest heels to show off their talents. Kuljit tries to put them off telling them his equipment isn’t ready, but they plead with him and with a bit of persuasion Kuljit gives in. When they’ve finished the girls are anxious for Kuljit’s professional opinion. He tactfully tells them he enjoyed the choreography and maybe they should come back when the studio is open properly. The girls go away happy, convinced they’ll be the next Sugababes! Kuljit decides it’s time he went too, to see Sway.
As Sway tells Kuljit about taking the Shahada tomorrow he finally realises his friend is really serious and decides he should support him. Kuljit wants to be there for Sway at the ceremony, to represent the family and be a witness. Sway explains that isn’t possible because Kuljit isn’t Muslim. As a final snub Sway tells Kuljit he doesn’t even want him to attend, he knows Kuljit doesn’t believe in what he’s doing so its better that he stays away…
