Mushtaq is running late for Mani’s birthday party. Jodie confirms they are too because Mani doesn’t seem too keen to be there. Mani says he wasn’t expecting any fuss but Jodie points out a lot of busy people are making an effort and the least he can do is get there on time. Mani suggests Jodie go on ahead but she decides to wait otherwise he’ll never get there!
Over at the restaurant Vinnie wonders if Sway will come to the party what with Kuljit being there. Jas reckons Kuls and Sway managed to be civil to each other when working on the partition event but she’ll go and check anyway. Sway is finishing a call with Qasim when Jas arrives. He tells her Gramps is really ill and not faking it this time. Jas suggests Sway comes to the party to take his mind off things but Sway isn’t exactly in the mood. He finally agrees to pop in later.
Zak tells Sway he passed his exams. Sway suggests they celebrate with a coffee but Zak can’t because he is fasting as a practice run to Ramadan. He suggests Sway might want to revert in time for the holy month. Maybe they could fast together? Sway changes the subject. How about they use cricket as the masterpiece at the mela? He could even imagine someone like Mark Ramprakash presenting the Cup to them if they win. Zak takes this seriously!
Mani finally makes it to the party and thanks Vinnie for organising it. Mani later tells Mary he is nervous about turning sixty-five. Mary tells him she felt the same way but Mani has his best days ahead of him. Mani seems more in the party spirit after a few drinks and grabs Mary for a dance. Jodie can’t believe this is the same guy who dithered about coming. Suddenly there is a crash as Mani falls over. Jodie rushes over Mani assures her he is fine.
Later during his birthday speech Mani announces he has backed Kuljit with the recording studio. He has lots of friends in the industry and has big plans for promoting it. Kuljit privately tells Vinnie he was thinking of Mani as more of a silent partner…..
