Shazia is opening the partition exhibit but is disappointed at the lack of family support from her father. Dr Masud suggests he has better things to do than look at some youngster’s version of a historical event. Once Shazia leaves Kamal asks he is OK. Dr Masud says he’s fine but seems a little shaky. At the centre Sway tells Mindy this exhibit had better be worth it. He then asks Mindy if she is OK as she hasn’t been herself lately. Mindy admits she and Arun have split up and then suggests they get upstairs for Shazia’s speech. Shazia thanks the audience for their contributions to and opens the exhibit to a huge sound of applause.
Kamal asks Dr Masud if he was interviewed for the exhibit and is told he had nothing to say. Kamal suggests he must have some memories and wonders if the doctor has tried remembering. Dr Masud drops the coffee pot and Kamal rushes over to help. Dr Masud says he has spent his whole life trying to forget not remember. Kamal correctly guesses the doctor saw some horrific things back then.
Back at Parkside Shazia point out someone who seems a little upset with the display. Shazia and Mindy take Mrs. Riaz into the office where she decides to phone her son. Mindy fills Sway in and adds the son is a solicitor. Sway says that’s all they need. Sway is later relieved to discover Mrs. Riaz is only upset because of the power of the display and not because it has offended her in some way.
Dr Masud tells Kamal how he and his medical student brother assisted some refugees. Some weren’t so lucky though and the doctor describes how the dead were loaded onto carts. There was a young girl called Shazia whose brother was seriously injured. They treated him but then the girl herself fell back dead. She had been hiding a stab wound. Doctor Masud sobs as he tells Kamal how he has never forgotten that little girl….
