Mushtaq returns from Pakistan intending to surprise everyone. Zenab says he should have told them so they could collect him from the airport. Mushtaq asks after Imran. Zenab hastily says he’s better since Mushtaq last saw him. Later, Zenab is serving Mushtaq dinner when Imran arrives with Brian in tow. Imran is drunk and Brian struggles to get him up upstairs. Mushtaq turns on Zenab saying he can’t believe she lied to him. Zenab says Imran isn’t always like this besides she can’t talk about this now. Their son needs her!
Vinnie is trying to chair a meeting about the Partition event but no-one pays any attention to him. Dr Masud tells him to speak up so Vinnie tries again. They need to discuss ideas for how to display the objects and photos people have brought in. The group carry on talking amongst themselves. Vinnie gets more assertive and people finally start listening to him. One of the elders asks if Vinnie is the artist but he says it is going to be more of a group activity. People start describing what they have brought along their specific objects. One man has an old bicycle chain his father got him as a young boy. Another one has a pack of cards. The man says they played them indoors while the rioting was going on. Vinnie relaxes as they all describe their experiences.
After the meeting Dr Masud compliments Vinnie on getting them all to behave in the end. They are interrupted by the doctor’s mobile ringing. It’s Shazia who says she discovered the gas ring on the cooker was left on at his house. What’s wrong with him these days? Dr Masud tells her to calm down. He reckons he is in the middle of something and hangs up.
Mushtaq confronts Brian about his role in Imran’s drinking sprees. Brian admits he accompanies Imran but only so he can keep an eye on him. Zenab and Brian kept it from Mushtaq because they didn’t want to worry him. Besides what can Mushtaq do? Imran has to learn from his own mistakes. Mushtaq says this is rubbish. From now on things are going to be very different round here…..
