Have your say
Siobhan calls at the Chauhan’s to suggest a night out but Rita’s still at work. Roopa invites her in for a chat and they settle down with a tub of ice cream. Roopa tells Siobhan all about her and Bina’s new girl band. Siobhan says she’ll come to their first gig but Roopa confesses they haven’t really got very far yet. Just then Jas turns up and joins them. The two girls tell Siobhan about all the problems Jai caused last time he was around. Siobhan advises them to ignore him, he’s really just a bit of a saddo! When Siobhan has left Roopa quizzes Jas about Vinnie, they seemed to be getting very close at her party. Embarrassed, Jas says they’re just mates but Roopa’s not convinced.
Meanwhile Rita and Carla are on their way to see Mr Doshi. Carla needs Rita’s help because he doesn’t speak much English. They arrive at the rough estate and Rita wonders how the family manage in a tower block with a disabled child. Mr Doshi shows them into the flat but he seems uncomfortable and quite hostile towards them. He’s fed up with people poking their noses in his business. Carla and Rita persist though. They need to know how Ravi got his bruises, how his wife got hurt and why he’s been missing Ravi’s hospital appointments. Mr Doshi reacts angrily, blurting out that sometimes his wife winds him up and he shouts at her, but he would never hurt Ravi. His wife just fell, she doesn’t listen to him, she’s stupid! Mr Doshi has had enough of their questions and tells them to get out.
Rita and Carla decide to leave Mr Doshi to calm down and walk back to the car discussing their next move. Carla says she needs to get back to the office to check out care options. Rita misunderstands, thinking Carla is going to arrange some home help. Carla puts her straight, it’s too big a risk leaving the children there. They need to get them into foster care, even if it means splitting them up, and the sooner the better!
